Lettuce


IN SEASON: May, June, September, October, November
STORAGE: Store in plastic or perforated plastic bag in your refrigerator. If a hydrator drawer is available store bag of lettuce in it.  However, be sure to keep away from ethylene producing fruit as lettuce is ethylene sensitive.  A salad spinner works great for cleaning your lettuce while removing any excess moisture.  In these conditions, lettuce should last 10-14 days.
COOKING TIPS: Lettuce is better torn than cut with a knife.  Cutting causes the edges to turn brown faster.
