Hello SBF Subscribers! We hope you are all enjoying the last few weeks of summer weather. We have been extremely dry here at the farm. It was just about to the point of having to wait for rain to work up any fields. The ground was like concrete and the dust was terrible when we tried to plow or till. We have had about an inch of rain in the last few days. Not really enough to replenish the soil, but enough for us to continue to prep the gardens for the winter cover crops. It looks like the next couple weeks will be spent getting things cleaned up and put away for winter.
We have another “first” for our CSA this week. Pie pumpkins. They should be a welcome addition to our fall coolers (if we can fit them in the coolers).
Just a reminder to everyone, that we really appreciate the effort each of you put into wiping out the empty coolers each week. It saves us a lot of time after a long day of delivering veggies. Thanks!
