We’d like to introduce you to June. June and her cousin Anita joined our younger flock of chicks today. Both June and Anita are crested cream legbars. You can see her crested feathers, “bangs”, in the picture. The girls are still a few months away from becoming laying ladies, but when they do they should lay a blue egg. We love our chickens here at the farm just like we do our produce!
Like past weeks, the coolers are full of flavor this week. We’ve really transitioned into summer crops. The tomatoes have great flavor this year and the blueberries are just bursting with flavor. Today we also dug the season’s first new potatoes. It’s always fun to pull the antique potato digger out of the shed. Click on the following link to view a video that was taken here at the farm of the digger in action. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ut90gx-YSE0 Freshly dug new potatoes tastes completely different than a cured potato. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
Have a Happy Father’s day and happy produce eating!

THIS WEEK’S RECIPES
Wow anyone’s taste buds with this absolutely scrumptious cinnamon basil and pine nut praline homemade ice cream!
The green beans and new potatoes that my grandmother used to make. I had tried repeatedly to duplicate her recipe and in recent years I figured out it’s all about having access to freshly dug new potatoes.
A quick pepper, beans, and rice dish that will get a thumbs up from everyone around the table.
