Our CSA

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is an alternative, locally based economic model of agriculture and food distribution that creates a direct relationship between you and a farm.  This allows you to support small farms and boost the local economy, while providing high quality, nutritious, and fresh produce for you and your family, friends, and neighbors.  You also get the peace of mind of knowing exactly where your food comes from, who is growing it, and how it is grown.

CSAs were originally created to address the nation’s best farmland being lost to commercial and residential development, older farmers retiring, and increased land and production costs for farmers.  And most recently, have become an excellent alternative system of food distribution due to the rise in disease, obesity, and food borne illness outbreaks, along with the growing concern of how GMOs and synthetic chemicals are affecting both our bodies and environment.

Here at Shared Bounty our mission is to:

• Establish a responsible relationship between our farm and the shareholders.
• Demonstrate a model of effective small-scale farming and local food system.
• Cultivate ecologically-friendly farming practices.
• Provide shareholders with a portion of the nutritious bounty throughout the season.
• Donate to the local community—10% of farm shares are given to local charities, organizations and individuals in need.

At Shared Bounty, we promise to only use non-GMO seeds and never use synthetic chemicals or fertilizers.  We whole-heartedly believe that the CSA model provides a sound system to keep our bodies, environment, and economy healthy!

How does our CSA work?

At the beginning of each calendar year, subscribers like you, purchase a share of our harvest, making a commitment to help cover our farm’s yearly operating budget.  In return, we will deliver fresh seasonal produce throughout the growing season – 22 weeks, late May through October.  We offer two sizes of produce shares – a half share which is suitable for 2-3 people and a whole share which is suitable for 4 or more people.  Sharing with a friend or neighbor is always a great option as well.  Organically fed, free range egg shares are also available.  Shares can either be picked up at the farm or can be delivered to your doorstep.  Delivery areas include:  Saint Louis City, Saint Louis County, Saint Charles County, Warren County, and Lincoln County.
